2014 Nike & Doernbecher Hospital Freestyle

Doernbecher Hospital in Portland, Oregon, is a famous pediatric hospital that focuses on children illness and diseases. Beginning in the year of 2004, Nike wanted to find a way to raise money for the hospital, so they decided to create shoes and sell them for charity. Nike sent one of their designers to the hospital to get inspiration for designing the shoes. He came up with the idea to allow the children of the hospital to design their own shoes in which the proceeds would go to the hospital. 2014 marks the 11th anniversary of this heartwarming collaboration, and Nike has chosen six different patients to design their own versions of Nike shoes. Check them out below with each of their signature shoes.

Adidas #miZXFLUX

Adidas has just launched the #miZXFLUX app for the customers in the United States. The #miZXFLUX app allows people with smartphones to take photos and use that picture to put it on a shoe. Adidas is allowing the print of anything you want for the fair price of $110. It will be interesting to see some of the creativity of sneakerheads across the US. Here are some of my favorites.

Online Weekend Releases: Daymaker or Daybreaker

It's Friday night and you go to bed early so you can wake up for tomorrow mornings online release of the shoe you've been waiting for.

Your alarm goes off at 6:30AM and you quickly get out of bed.

You log into Nike.com on your phone or computer and get prepared to buy the shoe right at release time.

Right as it turns to 7:00AM, there are two possible outcomes: Daymaker or Daybreaker.
First lets take a look at the Daymaker outcome. You simply refresh the page, then the shoe magically pops up and all you do is click "add to cart" and voilà, it's in your cart and you're just like..

You proceed through checkout feelin' like a million bucks

Finally, you complete the order, get your conformation email, and now you can go through the rest of your day feeling like you just won the lottery.

Of course, the Daymaker situation is always the desired outcome, but it typically isn't going to happen as often as you would like. Lets take a look at the Daybreaker outcome. This time when you refresh the page and click, "add to cart," this happens..
You wait for 30 dreadful minutes and still nothing has changed.

Even more time has passed and then the website informs you that the shoes are now out of stock which leaves you in disgust. Your whole day has been ruined by not getting the shoes.

Regardless of whether you got the pair of shoes or not, just remember to not get discouraged (even though it is easy to) and that more shoes will always release in the future.
